CORRECTIONS SERVICES OFFICER I (0988AS-JAD)

Salary Range (approximate):
$16.54 - $24.29 Hourly; $2,867.67 - $4,209.76 Monthly ($34,411.99 - $50,517.18 Annually)

Position Information: The Corrections Services Officer (CSO) I class is the entry and working level of the CSO class series. INITIAL APPOINTMENT IS USUALLY ABOVE THE BASE SALARY. Higher level classes in the series are CSO-II (up to $4,517 [base] monthly) and CSO-III (up to $5,166 [base] monthly).

Duties: CSO-I's are assigned to work a variety of positions at local adult and juvenile custodial facilities and Probation Agency programs. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: The observation and supervision of inmates/minors serving Court-ordered confinement periods; the gathering and recording of pertinent data involving individual/group behavior and activities; and the monitoring of inmate/minor compliance with designated treatment plans.

Education/Experience Required:
Possession of at least a High School diploma (or its equivalent).

Special Requirements for Deputy Probation Officer and Corrections Services Officer I Positions:

1. Must possess at time of application, and thereafter maintain, a valid California Driver License.
2. Pursuant to the Penal and Government Codes must also:
a. Be at least 18 years of age; and,
b. NOT be a convicted felon; and,
c. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who has applied for citizenship.
(Note: If hired, a permanent resident alien must provide proof of their application status with the Immigration and Naturalization Service [INS]. Failure to cooperate with the INS, to maintain required status or to be denied citizenship will result in dismissal from employment.
