The
employees of the Ventura County Probation Agency continued to be involved in several
activities that benefit community organizations.
* The Youth Services Unit is actively involved in activities at R.M. Pyles Boys Camp. Pyles Boys Camp is designed to help teenage boys develop structure in their lives and set goals for success.

* For the last decade, VCPA employees have been involved in the Conejo Youth Employment Services in Thousands Oaks. This organization helps youths prepare job resumes and find employment in the Conejo Valley area. In the past, Agency staff have been members of their Executive Board and continue to be involved in various fundraising events for this very worthwhile organization.

* As in previous years, our employees readily volunteer participation in community activities such as the Holiday Toy Drive in Fillmore; Career Days at various middle and high schools; Open House and Cinco de Mayo Community Celebration at the Santa Paula Family Resource Center; etc. We have ongoing presentations to Moorpark College Criminal Justice students and at the Haydock School "Parents Institute". Employees are also involved in the "Parent Project" parenting education classes that are open to the community. |
* Staff sold over 300 of 2,500 raffle tickets for the 2006 Harley-Davidson Raffle for the "Fat Boy" in Black. A special table was set up and manned by volunteers and a display model of a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was transported to the different events. All proceeds are going to the Ventura County Special Olympics.
* In support of the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser, VCPA employees acted as celebrity waiters/waitresses at selected local restaurants. All gratuities earned during their shifts were donated to the Ventura County Special Olympics.
* VCPA probation
and corrections officers participated in the annual Pride Bowl,
a football game that pits personnel of Ventura County law enforcement
agencies against other law enforcement agencies from throughout Southern
California. Proceeds from ticket sales to this event are donated to various local charities.
* VCPA employees
man an Agency booth at various community events throughout the year.
Visitors to the VCPA booth receive information about the many functions
of VCPA, as well as the duties its employees peform.
